Gaelic Football Blitz for Primary Schools- Pics
On Friday the 14th of October, TY students organised a Gaelic Football Blitz for 5th and 6th class primary school students from the locality. 16 Teams participated from 13 local schools including, St Colmcilles Kells, Bohermeen, Nobber, St Killians Mullagh, Cortown, Carrigabruise, Drumbaragh, Moynalty, Ugtyneil, Rathmore, Knocktemple, St Tolas Delvin and Carnaross.
Bohermeen and St Colmcille Kells were successful in reaching the Cup Final. The teams fought hard for the Eureka Cup, with St Colmcilles coming out victorious.
For the Eureka Shield title, Rathmore and Mullagh faced off. It was an extremely tough game and everyone played to the best of their ability with Mullagh just getting over the line.
The trophy and medals were presented by student Emily Morgan who captained Meath’s under16’s to a Leinster Final last year.
The players and schools should be extremely proud of their performances, it is evident that a lot of work is taking place in the Primary Schools and their respective Gaelic football clubs.
Overall, every team played amazing rounds of Gaelic football, and we hope for them to return again next year. There is no doubt that there is a bright future ahead for Gaelic Football in the area and Eureka Secondary School.
We would like to thank sponsors Supervalu and Park Rí and also Cuchulainn’s GFC for the use of the goals.
TY’s put such good work into organising the event and we would like to thank our teachers Mr. Farrelly, Ms. Glennon and Mr. Curran for being so supportive of the transition year classes.
