Sadie McGarry
My name is Sadie McGarry, and I am delighted and extremely proud to be Head Girl of Eureka Secondary School for the 2026 – 2027 school year.
I feel particularly privileged to take on the role of Head Girl during such a special year for our school as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of Eureka Secondary School. It is with great honour that I represent the school during such an important milestone and to be part of celebrating the students and staff, past and present, who have made Eureka what it is today.
I have always been very proud to be a student of Eureka, so being trusted with the role of Head Girl means a great deal to me. Having previously been a class captain, I have always enjoyed taking on responsibilities and being someone that students can approach.
It has been particularly exciting to see the continued demand for places in our school and the enthusiasm from prospective students and their families. This year, we welcomed the largest number of girls ever to our Open Night in September, which was fantastic to see. It is a great reflection of the reputation and community that Eureka has built over the past 70 years, and I am delighted to be able to represent the school at such an exciting time.
As Head Girl, I hope to be a positive role model and make sure that students feel heard, supported and included. I want to help build strong relationships between students and staff and encourage students to get involved in the many opportunities that Eureka has to offer.
I am very grateful for the opportunity I had in first year to take part in the Student Enterprise Programme. Having no previous experience in enterprise, it was a completely new challenge for me it helped me develop my confidence, public speaking and communication skills, while also teaching me how to develop and run a successful business. Through the programme, I built great relationships with teachers and other students and had the opportunity to represent Eureka at county level and eventually at the All-Ireland student enterprise final. It was a fantastic experience that taught me so much.
This is something I hope to encourage in my role as Head Girl — for students to take opportunities, try things they have never done before and make the most of everything Eureka has to offer. My experience travelling to Lourdes as a volunteer this year was incredibly fulfilling. It pushed me outside my comfort zone, helped me grow in confidence and taught me so much about empathy, helping others and appreciating the opportunities around me. I am extremely thankful to Eureka for giving me so many amazing opportunities, from Student Enterprise to Lourdes, which have helped shape me into the person I am today. You never know where one opportunity might lead.
Throughout the year, I hope to work closely with the Deputy Head Girls, Emily and Grace, Prefects, Student Leadership Team and staff to make a positive contribution to school life. I am looking forward to representing Eureka at events, welcoming new students and helping to create memories that students will look back on fondly.
Most importantly, I hope to lead with enthusiasm, kindness and a positive attitude. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the school, as it has given me a great school life experience here in Eureka, and I look forward to making the most of what promises to be a very special year in Eureka’s history.
It is a real privilege to be Head Girl in Eureka’s 70th anniversary year, and I look forward to celebrating our past, embracing the present and helping shape the future of our school.

Emily McLoughlin
My name is Emily McLoughlin, and I feel extremely proud and honoured to have been chosen as Deputy Head Girl of Eureka Secondary School for the 2026-2027 school year. It is a role that means a great deal to me, and I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent our students and our school. Having previously served as Class Captain, Senior Prefect and a member of the Student Council, I have seen how important student leadership can be in creating a positive and welcoming school environment.
I am especially proud to take on the role during such an important year as our school celebrates its 70th anniversary. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the history and achievements of the school while also looking forward to its future.
During the year, I hope to be someone that students from every year group feel comfortable approaching. I want to listen to their ideas and concerns and represent the student voice. I also look forward to working closely with the Head Girl, Sadie Mcgarry, my fellow Deputy Head Girl, Grace Conachy, prefects, Student Council, teachers and school management.
One of my main hopes is to help our younger students, particularly First Years, feel welcomed and supported as they settle into Eureka. I would also like to encourage students to become involved in school activities, as I have seen the importance of these extra-curricular clubs first-hand.
Throughout my years in Eureka, I have been fortunate to take part in many different experiences; however, Transition Year stands out as one of the most enjoyable and memorable years of my time in school. It encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, try new things and become involved in many different aspects of school life. It was a year that helped me grow in confidence, develop new skills and discover interests that I may not otherwise have explored.
Some of the highlights of my Transition Year included taking part in the Enterprise Awards, being given the role of lead dancer in the school musical and representing Eureka as part of sports teams. Each of these experiences challenged me in different ways and helped me develop confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. Being involved in such a wide range of activities also allowed me to make new friendships, work with different groups of students and contribute more actively to school life.
As I begin my role as Deputy Head Girl, I am excited about what the year ahead will bring. Eureka has given me so many opportunities, experiences and friendships throughout my time here, and I hope that in this role I can give something back to the school community. I want to be a positive and approachable representative for all students and encourage others to make the most of their time in Eureka, just as I have. As we celebrate 70 years of our school, I feel especially privileged to be part of its student leadership team and look forward to helping make the 2026–2027 school year a positive, memorable and enjoyable one for everyone
Kind regards
Emily Mcloughlin
Grace Conachy
Hi, my name is Grace Conachy, and I feel very proud and honoured to be selected as Deputy Head Girl of Eureka Secondary School for the academic year 2026-2027. It’s a wonderful privilege to take on this role, and I’m very excited to see what the year has in store. I have always enjoyed taking on responsibility around the school, particularly in the sports field. I’m very grateful to have been given this chance to represent our students and our school community. In our school, student leadership is very important, and from my years in Eureka, I have seen how it creates such a positive environment for everyone.
This year especially is such an important and historic year in our school as we celebrate the school’s 70th anniversary. This is an amazing opportunity to reflect on the previous 70 years but also to be able to look forward to what lies ahead in the future. I feel very privileged to take on such an important role in such an important year in our school community.
Being selected as Deputy Head Girl means so much to me as it’s not only a position of responsibility, but also a chance to make a positive difference within our school community. I feel honoured that I was trusted with this role, and I know I will complete this to my very best ability.
During this year, my main goal is that people feel as though they can come to me with any issues or worries they may have, and to be someone that students feel comfortable approaching. I also hope to work closely with our Head Girl Sadie McGarry and my fellow Deputy Head Girl Emily McLoughlin and our prefects to make this year as positive and successful as possible, and to add to our positive atmosphere here in Eureka.
One of my main hopes for this year is to be able to help anyone transitioning from junior cycle into senior cycle. I know that this can be a big change and can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I hope to be someone they can turn to for advice, support and reassurance. I would also encourage as many students as possible to take part in extracurricular activities, and from my own experience, they are very important, and I have made so many friends from different activities.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Eureka, but one of my highlights was Transition Year. Transition Year gave me so many opportunities and opened so many doors for me. It encouraged me to branch out and try new things that I hadn’t tried before.
For me, I loved being involved with anything to do with sport, whether it is coaching, playing or simply just watching. In Eureka, I have been involved in great success in sports, including winning two Leinster titles and reaching the All-Ireland final in 2025 in Gaelic football. I also got the opportunity to take part in the basketball team. These were fantastic experiences that taught me so much. They allowed me to develop my confidence and leadership skills, while also teaching me the importance of communication, responsibility and working well with others. They also gave me the opportunity to develop new friendships and meet people I may not have otherwise gotten to know. This is why I strongly advise all students to get involved with extracurricular activities within the school.
I am really looking forward to being Deputy Head Girl for this year. Most importantly, I want to lead by example and embrace every challenge and opportunity that lies ahead. I want to be a positive role model for the students in Eureka, listen to others and make sure every student feels heard and supported and I hope to give back to the school for all they have done for me over the past 6 years. Being Deputy Head Girl is a responsibility I am very grateful for, and I hope to represent the school and students of Eureka with pride and positivity. I am really looking forward to making this school year a positive, successful and enjoyable year for our entire school community.
